Do you have a physical disability, a chronic illness, a learning difficulty, or a mental health condition? If so, compensation for disadvantages can help reduce barriers in your studies: this involves taking specific measures to ensure equal educational opportunities for students with special needs. This can include, for example, extra time in exams, accessible study conditions, or the use of assistive technologies.

The best way to clarify your individual needs is in a personal meeting. In order to process an application for compensation for disadvantages, we require the following documents from you:

• written informal application
• proof demonstrating eligibility for compensation for disadvantages (e.g. medical certificate)

Under certain conditions, people with a refugee background have the opportunity to study at Alanus University:

• Recognized refugee status is an important prerequisite for studying.
• In addition, a higher education entrance qualification (HZB) is required, confirming your school-leaving qualification and qualifying you to begin university studies.
• For most degree programs at Alanus University, German language skills are also required, which can be proven by the TestDaF or DSH language examinations. Your academic aptitude is assessed through the TestAS aptitude test.

We offer two advisory options for prospective students from abroad:

The Infopoint in the foyer at Campus II is the first point of contact on campus for students for the issuance and receipt of documents as well as referral to contact persons in Student Services and the Examinations Office. In particular, the Infopoint offers students the following services:
