The Department of Philosophical and Aesthetic Education in the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Alanus University is responsible for organizing the Studium Generale (StuGe), which complements the university’s various degree programs with courses in cultural studies and the arts.
The department stands for a well-founded and diverse educational offering. The dedicated team of professors, research associates, and our faculty service office provides intensive and well-balanced support for students. Through demanding seminars, students are academically challenged while also being supported in their personal development.

Earn a university certificate as a student or guest student
The Department of Philosophical and Aesthetic Education regularly offers courses through the Studium Generale that conclude with a university certificate. Why is that worthwhile? University certificates provide a solid foundation for prospective master’s programs or later professional practice. They foster key competencies such as self-reflective, critical, connected, and interdisciplinary thinking—skills that are becoming increasingly relevant in the job market.
