The focus of the degree program is on participation and inclusion, which today are among the central reference points in special needs education and social work.
The master’s degree program combines academic foundations with a direct connection to students’ individual professional practice. In this way, skills are not only developed theoretically, but also tested and reflected on directly in everyday working life.
At the heart of the program are the topics of participation and inclusion, which today are among the central reference points in special needs education and social work. In addition to pedagogical, professional support and guidance, a particular focus is placed on counseling the people in the environment of those affected.

Study at the Mannheim campus
As diverse as our range of degree programs, our campus in Mannheim is just as vibrant.
Since August 2014, the study center in Mannheim has been part of the Alanus family. Students in the education degree programs at the Mannheim location find a full university structure here, with a cafeteria, library and everything that goes with it. At the same time, there are regular opportunities for exchange with the main campus of Alanus University in Alfter near Bonn. In this way, the two locations continue to enrich one another time and again.
