Interview with alumna Anna Henrichsen

From 2014 to 2017, Anna studied Business Administration – Rethinking Economics at Alanus University with the practice partner Service-Bund. She completed her practical phases at Service-Bund’s regional headquarters in Morbach, Münster, and Berlin. She spent the remaining practical phases at the headquarters in Lübeck, and on one occasion she even had the opportunity to complete a practical phase in Japan and gain insights at JFSA, a Japanese food wholesaler.
After graduating from Alanus University, Anna worked for two years in controlling at Service-Bund’s headquarters and then spent the coronavirus period in England.
Today, Anna is studying for a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship at the University of Liechtenstein. Since spring, she has been working as a student assistant in the Green Office at Alanus University as well as at the Center for Philanthropy in Liechtenstein.

What did you learn at Alanus?
I learned to think critically, reflect on my own actions and those of others, think outside the box, and think ahead.

What of what you learned at Alanus do you bring into your everyday professional life?
Being creative, having courage, daring to try something new, and sticking with it.

What is your most formative experience with Alanus?
Actually, the first day when I was able to immerse myself in the Alanus world, and as a farewell, the art graduation project.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Alanus?
The many colorful and different chairs in the Alanus cafeteria – they remind me how important it is to adopt different perspectives.

What do you miss when you think of Alanus?
The exchange with fellow students and lecturers, the warm atmosphere at Alanus that welcomes everyone. Also the art weeks, which brought variety to the lectures.

What do you wish for Alanus University?
Only the best: that it continues to remain a small university with an interdisciplinary range of offerings.

Why do you think a mentoring program is a good thing for us alumni and the students?
Through my mentee, I gain insight into current life as a student at Alanus University, with all the developments of recent years. There is a separate article about the mentoring project that I wrote together with my mentee.

What have you always wanted to say?
Come visit Liechtenstein sometime, the sixth-smallest country in the world! In addition to a prince, Liechtenstein also has many hiking trails and a unique ski area to offer.
