52 Pictures Through the Year

52 pictures painted and inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s weekly verses from the Soul Calendar. The cycle of the year works on / with / within the human being and allows us to sense change / time / transformation intensely. Whether cold or warm, sunny or rainy, R. Steiner’s verses add a new dimension of perception to the purely external passage of time, which the painter has sought to feel and intuit in order then, in the same week as the verses, to translate it into an individual language of color and form.

This is an experiment in the spirit of the preface to the Soul Calendar: “[…] to feel oneself at one in the workings of nature […] a strengthening finding of oneself (…) one must not look for nature depicted in its outward sense, but rather they are suggested in great inner images.”

“I have tried to inwardly engage with the weekly verses, to meditate on what inspired me toward a particular use of color and then guided me further in the painting process, with the context continually serving as a ‘railing.’ I see this year with these pictures as exemplary, because I too am constantly changing, and so a new approach would once again give rise to new pictures. May the pictures be for you another source of inspiration for the verses.” – Prof. Beatrice Cron, Professor of Painting in the Context of Therapy and Education.
