The OGS continuing education programme takes place over 13 weekends:
Fridays online from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and
Saturdays in person at Alanus University in Alfter from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualification for working with children at Open All-Day Schools (OGS), including art, Waldorf and reform pedagogy focuses
With the law on all-day support for children of primary school age, from August 2026 initially all children in the first grade will be entitled to all-day support. In the following years, this entitlement is to be extended by one grade level at a time, so that from August 2029 every primary school child in grades 1 to 4 will be entitled to all-day care in after-school care centres or open and bound all-day schools. For this, more than 800,000 additional places still need to be created and numerous educational staff recruited.
The certified university continuing education programme “Get ready for the Open All-Day School (OGS)!” at Alanus University starting in September 2026 addresses this need and prepares you for working with children between the ages of 6 and 12 in OGS or after-school care – including art, reform and Waldorf pedagogy focuses.
The continuing education programme is aimed at everyone already working in OGS and those who would like to work with children in this setting in the future.
No prior knowledge is required, but an interest in education should be present.
