Art Therapy with Children and Adolescents 26-27

Experts from various professional fields in the context of disorders and illness tendencies in childhood and adolescence present theories and methods, alternating with case vignettes and practical exercises. Based on this, exemplary art therapy approaches are explored, discussed, and further developed for implementation in participants’ own professional practice. A forum for collegial exchange rounds off the program. Behavioral issues are examined with regard to attachment disorders, school entry, and puberty as possible phases of crisis in which children and adolescents require special preventive support. Resource-oriented art therapy is intended to mitigate risk factors in chronically ill children and help develop personal protective factors, foster resilience, and improve the quality of life of those affected by making self-efficacy more tangible.

Trust as a Developmental Principle for Children and Adolescents

Trust forms the essential foundation for successful attachment and developmental capacity among human beings. In contrast to control or neglect, trust promotes the healthy development of children and adolescents into self-determined, self-confident members of society. The disruption of trust, on the other hand, has an unsettling effect. In this seminar, we address the following questions: How can we as adults foster trust in children and adolescents through aesthetic means? How can children’s and adolescents’ trust in the world be strengthened through art therapy? And: What significance might these two processes have for individual and societal development?

Case-based seminar work, case vignettes, and collegial exchange round off the seminar.
