WerkStadt - Development Concept for the Girlitz Site Cologne
WerkStadt is an urban development concept by Nikola Siep, Valentin Schily, Johannes Klapfer and Valentin Quecke that creates new visions for the Girlitz site in Cologne-Vogelsang.
The core idea of the design is to carry forward the workshop-like, provisional and pragmatic character of the site in a holistic and future-oriented plan.
The concept consists of several functionally and spatially distinct components that complement the existing office, commercial, residential and event uses and develop the overall WerkStadt concept from the existing structures.
In collaboration with the owner of the site, a vision for the future of the Girlitz site was developed, derived from the existing structures and the owner’s development goals.
