TRIALOG I - Educational Documentation in Waldorf Kindergartens

Against the background of the statutory documentation requirement for daycare centers in North Rhine-Westphalia, the empirical research project, commissioned by the Association of Waldorf Kindergartens NRW in 2015, examined the current situation and needs regarding the educational documentation practices of Waldorf kindergartens in North Rhine-Westphalia. The data were prepared/made available for the development of a new observation and documentation procedure oriented toward Waldorf education. The external project partner was Margarete Kaiser, representative of the expert group on educational documentation of the Association of Waldorf Kindergartens e.V., NRW region. She designed the TRIALOG instrument for educational documentation in Waldorf kindergartens.

This was followed by academic support for the pilot phase of the Waldorf-specific observation and documentation instrument.

Until summer 2016, the instrument was tested in the everyday practice of Waldorf kindergartens. Alanus University scientifically evaluated the feasibility of the instrument. The evaluation involved management staff, educational professionals, and parents as important educational partners and participants in documentation processes. The methods used included interviews, online surveys, and expert workshops.

The testing phase has been completed, and the evaluation results have been incorporated into the revision and adaptation of the instrument, which was presented to the public for the first time in summer 2017. The instrument will now make its way into the practice of Waldorf kindergartens in NRW.
