IMKoN – Integration of Employees as Consumers in Sustainability Innovation Processes

Companies and consumers depend on sustainability innovations if they want to practice ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable business. The new research project “IMKoN” by Technische Universität Berlin and Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences is now examining the extent to which employees should be more closely involved in innovation processes in order to develop ideas and products that contribute to a consumption style that is viable in the long term. Together with practice partners such as Henkel, Otto, and Tchibo, processes for the development of sustainability innovations are being identified, analyzed, and redesigned.
Background:
Design Thinking for Sustainability (DTN) is a workshop method for developing sustainability innovations by employees. DTN was developed and tested by researchers at Alanus University and TU Berlin, the innovation agency Dark Horse, and several business partners as part of the IMKoN research project.
A wide range of corresponding tools and methods as well as concrete application examples make it possible to use it in various contexts.
