Beethoven goes public
Beethoven inspires through his music, his artistic personality, and his physiognomy. The composer was born in Bonn in 1770 and left numerous traces in the city.
In the summer of 2017, students from the Fine Arts and Acting departments embarked on a shared discourse to reinterpret the music of that time, make it visible, and understand facets of Beethoven as a human being.
In the project, perspectives from the visual arts came together as a multimedia approach ranging from painting, drawing, photography, and video to interventions in public space. Students from the Acting department developed body images based on techniques from the fields of performance and dance. Crossover activities in the urban space of Bonn, as temporary interventions in public squares and in various exhibition formats, gave rise to associative views of Beethoven and his work.
