Christian Cremer, alumnus of Childhood Education, on his work as a lecturer

Where am I & what am I doing?

My path led me to the Training Center for Social Pedagogy at Kölner Wirtschaftsfachschule GmbH. Here, I support and teach prospective educators, social assistants and integration assistants on their way to their external examination.

How did I get here?

During my Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education, it became clear to me that one day I wanted to work as a lecturer myself. Working with adults is very different from working with children and yet comparable in some ways. Thanks to a tip from a dear former fellow student, I became aware of Kölner Wirtschaftsfachschule and especially the Training Center for Social Pedagogy. The fact that it then worked out with a position there is like the fulfillment of a small dream.

How has my time at Alanus University shaped me?

My time at Alanus University still shapes me today. Not only because I am currently still enrolled in the Master’s degree program in Education. Through the close contact with lecturers and fellow students, I was able to develop not only professionally but, above all, personally, which benefits me enormously in my new role. Sometimes I even catch myself unconsciously transferring some of the Alanus lecturers’ “quirks” to my own work ;).
