Helping shape the mobility transition

Noémie Kappmeyer is studying at Alanus University in the degree program “Business Administration – Rethinking Economics” with Riese & Müller as her practical partner. The manufacturer of e-bikes, e-cargo bikes, and folding bikes is shaping the mobility of tomorrow with innovative technologies and is once again offering a practical placement for the fall semester 2023.

“Helping shape society and the future! That was my aspiration when I began my business administration studies under the motto “Rethinking Economics” at Alanus University in cooperation with Riese & Müller as my practical partner in 2021. Like many students, I asked myself what should come next for me after school. I definitely wanted to do something sustainable and future-oriented. After a trial day on campus, I knew that I wanted to study at Alanus University with like-minded people. In the end, that was the decisive motivation for my studies.

I really liked the idea of gaining practical experience as part of my studies right away, because it allows me to deepen what I learn at the university within the company. At Riese & Müller, I was able to do exactly that. As an employee at the leading producer of e-bikes, cargo bikes, and folding bikes, I can actively contribute to the mobility transition. In addition to the classic insights into practical business administration, Riese & Müller gave me room for my own ideas and projects. By working in different departments, I was able to find out what interests me and which areas of work I truly enjoy.

I work there in an appreciative working atmosphere. Whether student or full-time colleague from production, logistics, or administration, everyone is part of the team and contributes to a respectful and open way of working together. My highlight: working at an e-bike trade fair in Ghent (Belgium). It is incredibly interesting to speak directly with end customers and learn what expectations they have of a Riese & Müller e-bike.

Admittedly, I was skeptical at first about having to commute between the Riese & Müller locations in Mühltal and Alanus University in Alfter near Bonn after each block phase. Looking back, that is exactly what makes it special. The experiences during the practical phases are much more intense because of the new environment. It also keeps me more flexible, and in addition to my fellow students, I get to know people who are actively engaged in working life. What’s more, as a student I receive extensive support both at Alanus University and at Riese & Müller.

To sum up: studying with Riese & Müller as a practical partner is varied and versatile. Anyone who wants to can learn a lot, and if you are not yet familiar with e-bikes and cargo bikes—no problem. Neither was I.
