How does Waldorf early childhood education position itself in relation to current social issues?

Prof. Dr. Philipp Gelitz (ed.) presents his new book “Fully Present in Life with Young Children – Society and Waldorf Education in Dialogue,” published by Beltz Juventa, a multi-faceted edited volume that addresses topics such as health, sustainability, digitalization, migration, and gender in the context of Waldorf education. Through the dialogical approach of its contributions, the book highlights both the potential of Waldorf education and its compatibility with current social discourses, as well as the challenges Waldorf education faces.

“In my view, the book will be of interest both to practitioners, students, lecturers, and parents who would like to get to know contemporary Waldorf education, and to experienced Waldorf educators who wish to see their familiar field presented in an academically grounded way. I am particularly pleased that experts from various institutions accepted the invitation to contribute to the volume,” summarizes editor Prof. Dr. Philipp Gelitz.

The dialogical contributions in this new publication open up interesting perspectives on old and new topics in education and the Waldorf approach. “The diversity of the topics addressed can enrich both Waldorf education itself and the discourse on Waldorf education among scholars, practitioners, students, and parents,” writes Birgit Krohmer in the newsletter of the Association of Waldorf Kindergartens about the book.
