From 15 to 18 June, the doors to the Alanus University studios were once again open, and visitors were able to discover exciting, provocative, and witty works by young artists as part of the Fine Arts Tour.
To mark the university’s 50th anniversary, around 250 students presented their current work this year, ranging from Fine Arts and Art Therapy to Acting, Architecture, Philosophy, and Business. Each year, the exhibition offers a comprehensive insight into the broad spectrum of artistic creation at the state-recognized art university: painting, photography, drawing, installation, sculpture and video, architecture, and performance.
For graduates of the artistic degree programs (Bachelor’s and Master’s in Fine Arts as well as Art-Pedagogy-Therapy), the tour is always associated with a special moment—it marks the end of their studies, and they receive the traditional sunflowers here. As part of the 2023 tour, three prizes were also awarded for outstanding artistic works. This year’s award winners included:
-
Arthur Charles Jongebloed. He received the prize in the Master’s program in Fine Arts, donated by the General-Anzeiger.
-
Lukas Zimmermann (Bachelor’s in Art-Pedagogy-Therapy)
-
Badr Kamoona (Bachelor’s in Fine Arts)
In addition to the fascinating artworks, visitors could look forward to a diverse program of readings, theater performances, presentations, and installations. Highlights included the opening by our Rector Hans-Joachim Pieper as well as the summer festival on Saturday, which rounded off the colorful program with musical accompaniment.
