University Continuing Education with Karla Katja Leisen
Humor is more than laughter. It is an attitude that can change the way we view people, situations, and challenges.
In educational, therapeutic, and creative fields of work, humor helps people respond flexibly to the unexpected, strengthen relationships, and remain capable of acting even in challenging situations. Humor opens up new perspectives and helps us recognize possibilities where previously mainly difficulties were visible.
In this continuing education course, we explore humor as both a method and an attitude. We train an appreciative perspective on ourselves and others, develop greater flexibility in dealing with change, and discover the power of shifting perspectives.
This is not about being funny or making others laugh. Rather, we learn to respond with openness, playfulness, and presence to what the moment brings.
Through exercises involving the body, voice, perception, and artistic media, we experience humor directly. Playful experiments, improvisation, and reflection open up new approaches to creativity, communication, and relationship-building.
The continuing education course provides practical impulses for your own professional practice:
- promoting an appreciative approach to mistakes and imperfection
- strengthening flexibility and improvisational skills
- enabling shifts in perspective
- activating creativity and spontaneity
- expanding resilience and scope for action
- shaping encounters on equal footing
The experiences are made visible and reflected upon through drawing, painting, and object work. In this way, a lively transfer emerges between self-experience, artistic expression, and professional practice.
Humor does not solve every problem. But it often changes the way we see a situation – and thus opens up new possibilities for action.
Note: The continuing education course does not replace training in art therapy.
