Institute for Process Architecture (IPA)

In April 2016, the Department of Architecture founded the Institute for Process Architecture. Building on many years of collegial work in the field of process architecture and linked to numerous projects, the department aims to strengthen its activities in research and development projects through the establishment of the institute.

First and foremost, the institute serves as a shared think tank on the subject of process architecture, where the participating colleagues from the department find a platform for exchange, feedback, and critical discussion. Based on this platform, the goal is to consolidate and ideally expand the department’s activities in research as well as artistic development projects. The institute is also intended to strengthen networking in academia, professional practice, and the arts scene, and to pool expertise for the application for and implementation of research and project proposals.

At the same time, the link between research and teaching is to be intensified in order to give students in the Department of Architecture the opportunity to further develop the subject of process architecture, contribute to research projects, and engage in artistic development projects.

Prof. Dr. Florian Kluge was elected Director of the Institute, and Miriam Hamel was elected Deputy Director of the Institute. In addition to colleagues, the group of members includes students from the Department of Architecture and is to be expanded in the medium term to include external experts in process architecture.

Together, we will drive forward the development of the institute and the field of process architecture!
