Institute for Education and Societal Innovation (IBUGI)

The Institute for Education and Societal Innovation (ibugi, Engl. CEST) at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences embodies the connection between education and societal innovation.
As an academic institution of Alanus University, the institute works closely with the Department of Philosophical and Aesthetic Education at Campus II in Alfter.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Marcelo da Veiga, the founding director of Alanus University, CEST is committed to teaching, continuing education, and consulting. With an interdisciplinary approach, it explores the interplay between education and socio-economic change. Through partnerships with various educational institutions, universities, companies, and individual partners, the institute focuses on the development and provision of university certificates, microdegrees, and nanodegrees that meet recognized academic standards and are eligible for credit points under the Lisbon Convention. In addition, the institute offers doctoral opportunities in the fields of educational science and philosophy, with candidates independently selecting their research topics in order to pursue individual research projects and academic achievement.
