browsing beauty - Multimedia Installation Project
Browsing beauty is an ongoing multimedia installation project founded by Sigi Torinus (University of Windsor – Canada) and Andrea Sunder-Plassmann (Alanus University) that explores the fleeting and accidental nature of beauty as well as culturally shaped ideas of it. It has been shown in Australia, the USA, Germany, Russia, Canada, Norway, and Cuba as multilayered projections on buildings, giant spheres, or other surfaces.
The work focuses on inner experience and the vulnerability of the body, while at the same time reflecting on the possible distance created by the use of technological media.
Browsing beauty is site-specific and sometimes interactive. Images, sounds, and spatial concepts are newly developed for each context on the basis of architectural, cultural, social, atmospheric, and aesthetic considerations.
