Mamma - Low-Budget and DIY Concept in Rural Areas
Kevin Osenau’s bachelor’s thesis develops a low-budget and DIY concept to increase living quality and energy efficiency in an older building located in a rural area in the Kusel district.
Many rural regions suffer from outmigration and vacancy, while large cities continue to grow steadily and rents there keep rising.
This situation can also be seen as an opportunity for new housing concepts in rural areas. Low land and property prices represent an opportunity for individualists with practical skills.
In this sense, Kevin Osenau’s bachelor’s thesis presents a concrete solution for a specific building and, based on this, also demonstrates transferable strategies for high-quality yet cost-effective self-built refurbishment of comparable buildings.
Kevin Osenau received a scholarship from the IKEA Foundation for the development of his bachelor’s thesis.
