a.l.s o.b Project – Digital Art Therapy-Social Art as Strengthening for the Soul
How can art and shared artistic experiences strengthen people in isolation, bring them together, reduce stress, and create a sense of community?
(English version see below)
The pandemic and the challenges associated with it have greatly changed the social lives of people around the world – including those of students. For this reason, the Bachelor’s degree program in Art Therapy-Social Art developed a digital social project in March 2020 – at the beginning of the first lockdown. In regularly held forums, students and lecturers met on Zoom to work artistically together on a topic and exchange ideas about it. This impulse gave rise to artistic projects that were carried out online with a wide variety of social groups by specially trained bachelor’s students.
The aim is to experience the strengths of art as a means of self-healing, as a communicator, as a health-promoting capacity, to apply the insights gained in practice, and to make them available to society. This project was accompanied by a study from January to July 2021. Initial results show that shared artistic experience is a valuable tool for relationship building, stress reduction, and well-being.
This valuable project continues to evolve: starting on 23.01.2024, new online groups (5 sessions) will be offered by students. Please send registrations by email to ba-kunsttherapie@alanus.edu.
Participating persons: Prof. Hildrun Rolff, Prof. Eva Paul, Corinne Roy (Research Associate, M.A.), Anne Wörner (Student Assistant), Prof. Dr. Sabine Koch (RiArt)
