In a year-long process, the central wall in the foyer of BMZ II, which separates the public area from the laboratories, will become the WALLlabor. Here, research and art meet visually and processually: in regular residencies, artists from the Alanus University network (alumni, lecturers, students) will work on an evolving mural and take up motifs from the cluster’s research, process them artistically, and relate them to the site.

Participating artists: aphenoah (Noah Kauertz, Oliver Hollatz), Simone Albert, Willem-Jan Beeren, Anne von Hoyningen-Huene, Paul Jonas Petry, Lukas Thein, freeters (Silke Mattern-Specht, Pasquale Deemeco), doctoral researchers of the “immunosensation2” cluster, as well as students from the Fine Arts and Architecture departments.

Take a seat! A socio-spatial table-bench sculpture in front of the building invites people to talk and exchange ideas, to share a lunch break or enjoy a quiet one, and to linger beneath the trees. Its clear formal language creates an aesthetic contrast to the organic natural surroundings, making the cluster’s culture of dialogue visible.
