Since Waldorf teacher training in Latin America still takes place largely independently of university structures, the certificate course offers an opportunity to complete the desired qualification with a university certificate.

The course is aimed at both prospective and current teachers at Waldorf schools and state schools, as well as people with a general interest in education. The language of instruction is Spanish and, to a small extent, English.

If the goal is to work as a foreign language teacher, the following formal criteria apply:

• Proof of relevant studies in the target language or

• Certificate (DLL) from the Goethe-Institut or comparable institutes in other countries or

• Proof of at least B2 or C1 in the target language

In addition, the following informal criteria apply:

• The target language is a second language

• Many years of experience using the target language

(The fulfillment of informal criteria is reviewed during the application process)

The course is aimed at both future and current teachers at Waldorf schools and public schools, as well as people with a general interest in education. The certificate course is taught in Spanish, with a small portion in English.

If you wish to work as a foreign language teacher, the following formal criteria apply:

Proof of a relevant qualification in the target language or

– Certificate (DLL) from the Goethe-Institut or comparable institutes in other countries or

– Proof of at least B2 or C1 in the target language

The following informal criteria also apply:

– The target language is your native language

– Many years of experience in using the target language

(Fulfillment of the informal criteria is reviewed during the application process)

These are distributed over the three years across 4 weekly online classes, 6 blocks (one 13-day in-person block week in Latin America per year and one 7-day online block week in July per year), as well as 4 weeks of school internship.

The head of EFA and organizer of the course is Carolina Kot (lecturer in German as a foreign language, DaF, at the Goethe-Institut and Waldorf teacher). Responsible for the academic implementation on behalf of Alanus University is Prof. Dr. Axel Föller-Mancini.

The course lasts three years and comprises 40 semester hours per week (SWS). These are distributed over the three years into 4 weekly online classes, 6 blocks (one 13-day in-person block week in Latin America each year and one 7-day online block week in July each year), and 4 weeks of school internship.

The director of EFA and organizer of the course is Carolina Kot (teacher of German as a foreign language, DaF, at the Goethe-Institut and Waldorf teacher). Professor Axel Föller-Mancini is responsible for the academic implementation of the course at Alanus University.

Successful participation in the course is certified by a university certificate detailing the examination results and the workload. If the admission requirements are met, the certificate course qualifies participants to work as a foreign language teacher and enables the granting of a teaching license at Spanish-speaking Waldorf schools. The granting of teaching licenses is usually the responsibility of the individual schools and state educational structures. This should be clarified in each specific case.

The certificate from Alanus University will indicate 60 ECTS credits and will therefore be internationally recognized for subsequent continuing education or for degree studies.

Successful participation in the course is certified by a university certificate detailing the examination results and the required workload. If the admission requirements are met, the certificate course qualifies participants to work as a foreign language teacher and makes it possible to obtain a teaching license at Spanish-speaking Waldorf schools. The granting of teaching licenses is usually the responsibility of each school and the state educational structures. Information should be obtained in each individual case.

The certificate from Alanus University will carry 60 ECTS credits and will therefore be internationally compatible for further training or for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program.

The monthly tuition fees amount to 100 euros (120 USD). These are used to cover the costs of the ongoing course.

In the second and third years of study, certificate fees of 100 euros (120 USD) each are charged. This amount goes to Alanus University for providing the academic framework.

The tuition fees are 120 euros per year. In the 2nd and 3rd year, this amount is paid to Alanus University for providing the academic framework.
