University Continuing Education with Anna Müller
This continuing education course invites us into a research-based artistic practice in which nature can be experienced as a space of resonance. Through the practical inclusion of natural elements and processes, art-therapeutic competence is expanded. Participants take on the role of the researcher in order to explore natural phenomena such as cycles, transience, growth, weather, or material processes as mirrors of life and to incorporate them as impulses into art-therapeutic work. An important element of this research-based practice is cultivating one’s own open attitude in order to approach one’s own questions and those related to clients without prejudice and with curiosity.
Core themes of the continuing education course include deepening the ability to observe and reflect on perception and resonance processes in a differentiated way and to transfer them into therapeutic settings. By developing and testing their own exercises, participants strengthen their methodological knowledge. One focus lies on strengthening the relationship between clients and the environment in order to foster self-perception and self-regulation within the (therapeutic) space. An important ethical aspect here is promoting a shared responsibility between humans and the environment—on both large and small scales—in order to be able to perceive and define one’s own responsibilities while also making self-efficacy tangible.
Participants also explore forms of documentation used in aesthetic research, such as diaries, image analysis, text work, and photographic work. In this process, spaces of perception emerge in which moments of resonance, artistic condensation, and reflection interweave. Based on aesthetic research as developed by Helga Kämpf-Jansen, the course connects experiences of nature with artistic creation, reflection, and sustainability in art-therapeutic processes.
