Business Administration student Emma spends her practical phases at Voelkel and gives us insights into her work.
After each semester at Alanus University, Emma spends two and a half months with her practical partner Voelkel in the Lüneburg Heath. This summer, Emma visited one of Voelkel’s suppliers: a village project in Poland.
The project consists of three villages and was launched to secure an area of nearly 1,900 hectares for biodynamic cultivation and environmental protection through a foundation. In addition, there is a workshop for social-educational work where, for example, tea is grown, processed, and sold in the farm’s own shop. Voelkel sources wild-harvested elderflower extract and rose petal extract for Biozisch from the workshops. Very close by is the small apiary, which primarily serves to pollinate the plants and also produces delicious honey.
During her practical phase in procurement at Voelkel, Emma visited a farm to look at open-pollinated beetroot and open-pollinated Solvita carrots. For Voelkel, it is important to maintain long-standing cooperation and to get to know new projects.
