Creating opportunities with the Germany Scholarship
To increase the number of students who receive a scholarship during their studies, the federal government launched a national scholarship program in the summer of 2010. The Germany Scholarship supports talented, high-achieving, and committed students. Depending on their number of students, universities receive a quota of scholarships that they can award through a suitable selection process. For each scholarship holder and academic year, the university receives 150 euros per month; it must raise the other half from private donors. This results in a monthly scholarship amount of 300 euros.
The scholarships are awarded by an interdisciplinary commission. In addition to strong academic performance, students’ commitment within the university and society is important. Social, family, and personal circumstances are also taken into account.
