Alanus University and the Alanus Werkhaus are breaking new ground in sustainable mobility and have been cooperating with the carpooling app goFLUX since December. The Cologne start-up was founded by three people from Bonn and recently received the “Umweltwirtschaftspreis.NRW 2022”.

The app is free of charge and uses a matching algorithm to connect drivers and passengers, also taking public transport connections into account. Passengers only pay a contribution toward travel costs, which is passed on 1:1 to the respective drivers. “We want to encourage our students and staff to form car pools for commuting or short-distance trips. Our goal is to help reduce CO2 emissions and ease the burden on roads and parking spaces,” explains Ruben Greif, Sustainability Officer at Alanus University.
