As part of the anniversary, our major event series ‘Art from 50 Years of Alanus’ is also taking place. From 20 March to 19 June, we invite you on a journey through ‘Alanus art history’!
This year, Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences and the Alanus Werkhaus are celebrating ‘50 Years of Alanus’. As part of the anniversary, our major event series ‘Art from 50 Years of Alanus’ is also taking place. From 20 March to 19 June, we invite you on a journey through ‘Alanus art history’!
At Alanus University, art has been felt, taught, made tangible, captured on canvas, carved in stone, built, and brought to life on stage for 50 years. Together with former and current lecturers, alumni, and students, we trace this history in search of its beginnings in Alfter. We sketch the path from an art study center at Johannishof to a state-recognized university of the arts and tell the story of the development of the individual departments at Alanus University.
Together with the audience, we look at artworks and activities, get to know people and collectives, and discuss what defined the Alanus art scene back then and what still makes it special today. We shed light on the perspectives and attitudes that have shaped engagement with art at Alanus University and the Alanus Werkhaus over the past 50 years.
Join us on this journey. Everyone interested is warmly welcome!
