EU project “W-Rise” launched for refugee women from Ukraine

The Institute for Regenerative Economics at Alanus University offers training in digital and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Professional prospects can help women who have fled Ukraine build a new life in another country. In future, they will also be supported by Alanus University as part of the EU project “W-Rise”: the Institute for Regenerative Economics (REGWI) offers training in digital and sustainable entrepreneurship, which will take place in Italy and Poland in 2025.

“Regeneration on a personal level is the foundation for building a regenerative economy. The economic model that the world so urgently needs in order to return within planetary boundaries,” explains Patricia Theren, who supports the project at REGWI. “With the training courses, we want to enable the women to further develop their own entrepreneurial skills in order not only to shape their careers successfully, in other words regeneratively, but also to adapt to the new living conditions.” REGWI was founded in 2022 as an affiliated institute of Alanus University and pursues the core idea that economic success must not come at the expense of nature or social justice.

“W-Rise” is an EU-funded project and stands for “Women on the rise: Upskilling Ukrainian Refugee Women through Sustainable and Digital Entrepreneurship Learning Pathways”. It is carried out by an international consortium that brings together universities, adult education organizations and consulting firms from Lithuania, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Germany. The key activities include training in digital and sustainable entrepreneurship.
