Current Research Project
Professionals in Waldorf Nature Kindergarten Groups – educational orientations and practical experiences
The empirical research project launched in 2025 on the orientations and experiences of educational professionals in Waldorf nature kindergarten groups builds on educational science discourses on educational quality and its dimensions. It examines which guiding motives educational professionals cite for choosing a forest group, farm group, or similar group formats with a specific Waldorf educational concept as their workplace, as well as which conditions for success they formulate in this field. To this end, interviews are being conducted that allow for an interpretive understanding of the relevance structures and attributions of meaning of the adults involved. In this way, the exploratory, field-opening qualitative study approaches the research field of the Waldorf nature kindergarten empirically for the first time. The findings are intended to provide insight into the dimension of orientation quality as well as practical knowledge and educational priorities (reported process quality) and practical experience with specific framework conditions (structural quality/team and leadership quality). The research project is driven by the hope of learning both what motivates educational professionals to commit themselves professionally in these institutions and which specific problems may arise in this field of practice.
