Art as experiment and an art-based understanding of the world: these central themes are explored, discussed, and reflected upon individually by the artists in the class of Professor Dr. Ulrika Eller-Rüter. The focus of the students’ education is painting and its expansion across media into all conceivable areas as the basis for developing an individual artistic standpoint and positioning the artists within a social context. This takes place in an interplay between studio work and activity in public space, both indoors and outdoors.

Special fields of activity alongside studio practice include exhibition projects, interventions, and performances in public space – both regionally and internationally. In addition, students are to gain practical experience in global interdisciplinary, intercultural, and participatory contexts. These often take place in cooperation with other art academies or cultural institutions, for example in Poland, Israel, Palestine, South Africa, Lithuania, and Italy. The weekly colloquia are important components, as the students’ work is the central focus of discussion there. They give students the opportunity to discuss essential artistic questions and positions in contemporary art. Professor Ulrika Eller-Rüter is also available to her students for one-on-one meetings.
