Class for Expanded Painting with Prof. Frauke Dannert
#expandedpainting #graphics #site-specificwork #space
In the artistic class of Prof. Frauke Dannert, painting is addressed in an expanded context. Painterly methods and graphic approaches are not understood as self-contained systems, but rather as potentials for an artistic practice that continuously evolves and questions and expands the boundaries of its own medium.
Alongside work on the classic autonomous artwork, questions are also raised about the material correspondences of painting as well as about space and site-specific work. Painterly approaches thus expand toward installation-based and performative processes. The focus is also on an interest in transdisciplinary methods that enable experimentation with other art forms and understand painterly techniques as expandable and transformative.
A weekly colloquium takes place, to which guests are regularly invited to enrich the discussion and provide insights into different areas of the art world. Exhibition visits, excursions, and collaborative exhibition projects complement studio practice and one-on-one meetings.
