New offering from Alanus University
at the Mannheim campus
8 June 2026 – Teaching and learning at the same time
Alanus University is further expanding its academic Waldorf teacher education offerings for people who are already working in education.
Starting in September 2026, the certificate course “Waldorf Education: integrated with professional practice” can be studied in modules and without interrupting employment.
Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences is expanding its part-time study offerings in the field of Waldorf education with a new format integrated with professional practice: starting in September 2026, the certificate course Waldorf Education: integrated with professional practice will begin at the Mannheim campus. This university-certified qualification is aimed in particular at teachers who are already working at Waldorf schools or who would like to begin the certificate course alongside starting their careers.
The new format further develops the existing certificate course “Professional Practice as a Waldorf Teacher” toward a more professionalized route into the profession. The goal of this university qualification goes beyond supporting career entry and is an advanced qualification that enables graduates to obtain comprehensive and legally secure authorization to teach as class teachers and subject teachers at Waldorf schools.
The new certificate course combines in-person phases with asynchronous self-study and relates the study content and assignments to the professional practice experienced on a daily basis.
Modular study with recognized qualifications
The course is designed for six semesters and comprises a total of 100 credit points. Attendance periods are limited to two to three weeks per semester as well as three weekends during the academic year, supplemented by asynchronous online teaching and self-study on our digital learning platform.
The tuition fee is 950 euros per semester; participation in individual modules is possible.
A requirement is employment at a Waldorf school, at least as an assistant teacher is recommended, because professional practice is an integral part of the course.
