Online Marketing Officer (m/f/d) – focus on Analytics, Website & Conversion (38.5 hours per week)
(with the option of extension)
The Marketing & Public Relations Department is responsible for analogue and digital university and student marketing, the organization of cross-university events and trade fair appearances, as well as press and public relations work. The place of work is Alfter (near Bonn) and Bad Honnef.
For our team, we are looking for a person with strong analytical skills who will analyze and further develop our digital marketing activities and our website on a data-driven basis. You will critically evaluate campaign results, analyze performance data, and identify optimization potential along the entire applicant journey. Based on this, you will derive sound recommendations for action to increase the number of qualified application inquiries.
Another key focus is the optimization of our website. You will analyze user behavior, develop optimization approaches, and, together with the team and our agencies, support the implementation of landing pages and conversion optimization measures. At the same time, you will continuously contribute to the operational updating and further development of the website.
Strategic direction, priorities, and budget decisions are developed and made jointly under the leadership of the head of department. You will work closely with colleagues in the marketing team and actively contribute your analyses, assessments, and recommendations to the further development of our activities.
Your responsibilities – what we expect from you:
Performance Analysis & Reporting (approx. 60–70%)
- Analysis of the performance of our SEA and paid social campaigns in collaboration with external service providers
- Classification and evaluation of campaign reports
- Review of KPI logics and tracking setups (Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager)
- Identification of optimization potential along the digital applicant journey
- Derivation of specific recommendations for budget and measure adjustments
- Preparation of results for the head of department
- Support in developing new campaign ideas from a performance perspective
Website & Web Analytics (approx. 30–40%)
- Analysis of website performance based on web tracking data
- Derivation of measures for conversion optimization
- Performance-oriented further development of the website
- Administrative support of our CMS (WordPress) with responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and up-to-dateness of website content
- Support for the university’s web editors
Occasional support at student recruitment events (e.g. study information days in March and November)
Your profile – what you bring:
- Completed degree in media and communication studies, marketing/international marketing, e-commerce, digital marketing, or comparable practice-oriented vocational or further training with a focus on online marketing and analytics
- Relevant professional experience in the analysis, evaluation, and optimization of digital marketing activities based on relevant KPIs
- Solid practical experience in using web analytics and reporting tools (e.g. Google Analytics 4) as well as common advertising platforms (e.g. Meta Ads Manager)
- Experience working with agencies or external service providers is an advantage
- Experience in maintaining and further developing websites, ideally with WordPress
- Structured, careful, and independent way of thinking and working
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Business-fluent German language skills (at least C1), both written and spoken
- Enjoyment of working in a team, organizational skills and flexibility, as well as strong communication skills, also with regard to gender issues, inclusion, and diversity
