How can companies assess and further improve their sustainability? The initiative by Alanus University Alfter and the Bornheim Business Development and Economic Development Agency (WFG), together with the City of Bornheim, the Bornheim business network Bornheimer Unternehmerkreis (BUK), and the Common Good Economy Foundation NRW, is entering its second round! Starting at the end of September 2023, four companies will once again have the opportunity, as part of a practical seminar, to prepare their first Common Good Balance Sheet with support from expert advisors and university students. One place for participation is still available.
A Common Good Balance Sheet records the status quo and also initiates an exciting organizational development process that promotes the company’s future viability and can increase its competitiveness. Especially in times of skilled labor shortages, the Common Good Balance Sheet is an important tool for attracting people who are looking for a sustainable work environment. What is evaluated positively here is not the highest possible profit, as in a conventional balance sheet, but rather the company’s contribution to the common good and thus to a good life for many. The assessment is based on fundamental social values such as human dignity, solidarity and justice, ecological sustainability, transparency, and co-determination.
The practical seminar on Common Good Economy is a joint initiative of Alanus University Alfter and the Bornheim Business Development and Economic Development Agency (WFG), together with the City of Bornheim, the Bornheim business network Bornheimer Unternehmerkreis (BUK), and the Common Good Economy Foundation NRW.
