Sustainable Finance: Regular lecture series at Alanus University

As part of the latest lecture in our “Social Finance” series, we were pleased to welcome Mr. Martin Cremer from the FS-UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance this week. In keeping with the COP23 World Climate Conference in the neighboring city of Bonn, a lively discussion arose around the global Green Climate Fund. Building on this, Cremer showed the role that managers and investors in private equity, i.e. the area of private, non-listed capital, can play and the hurdles that must be overcome in structuring projects in the field of renewable energy so that the highest possible alignment of interests is ensured. The lecture series was rounded off in a very practical way with selected case studies from African countries.

Background to the lecture series “Social Banking” and “Social Finance”

The two lecture series “Social Finance” and “Social Banking” are offered alternately each semester at Alanus University and are components of the modules of the same name in the Bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration under the motto “Rethinking Economics.” Topics of sustainability and business ethics are comprehensively integrated into the business studies curriculum. Among other things, students can specialize in the area of “Social Banking, Finance and Innovation.”
