On Wednesday, 10 May, the first International Day took place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the foyer of Campus II
Organised by the International Office, with the participation of the StuRa, returnees, international students and external partners, International Day focused on international mobility and aimed to inform Alanus students about the various opportunities to gain experience abroad and to make visible just how international the university already is.

From 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., students could obtain information at various information stands and take part in international workshops.
Students at Alanus University who had returned from a semester abroad offered information at their stands about the university where they had studied for one semester. They were able to present their university and the courses, but also share their experiences directly with the students in order to give them valuable advice in a relaxed atmosphere. Stands from Heliopolis University, SSOE Riga, HESGE Switzerland, Universidad de Lleida and University College of South East Norway were on hand to support curious visitors and offered international snacks and drinks.
Internship abroad as a great format
Although a semester abroad is the most common form of mobility, Alanus University also offers the opportunity to complete a funded internship abroad. This is an excellent option for all students, not least because the minimum duration of 60 days can easily be completed during the semester break. To present this programme and its many advantages, we were delighted to have a very well-equipped information stand on “Erasmus Internship”, staffed by students who had just returned from their internship abroad and were able to exchange ideas with interested visitors and encourage future candidates!
The aim of the first International Day was also to make internationality on campus more visible. External partners of Alanus University were also represented with stands, including Freunde der Erziehungskunst, the Erasmus Student Network, IAESTE e.V. and AIESEC, to inform our students about their activities.
International Workshops
More than 160 international students from over 60 nations study at Alanus University: scholarship holders of the “Alanus International” scholarship offered exciting cultural workshops, for example on Chilean “Volantes”, small, politically significant kites, or on Korean “SotDae”, wooden bird statuettes that – similar to the European maybug – bring good luck in spring.
Visitors enjoyed the lively atmosphere, wonderfully rounded off by the aroma of waffles from the StuRa, the international culinary contributions, a fine selection of music and the contribution of the architecture students – a world map in the form of an anamorphosis.
