The “Hoftheater” in Alfter, the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences’ in-house theater venue, is back! Starting in June, after a longer Corona break, our students from the Department of Acting will once again present exciting productions from the “performART” and “Business & Acting” degree programs.
Audiences can look forward to famous scenes from theater classics, sleepwalker-like Kafka productions, and movement performances that go against the grain. There will also be a preview performance of “The Complaint of Nature – All That Glitters Is Not Gold” about Alanus ab Insulis as part of the Fine Arts Rundgang from June 16 to 18, the traditional annual exhibition of the art universities. In a poetic, visually powerful stage spectacle marking the university’s 50th anniversary, the piece explores a theme that preoccupied the polymath and the university’s namesake, Alanus ab Insulis, more than 900 years ago: What does it take to regain a reconciliation between humankind and nature? Even before the official premiere on September 21 at 7:30 pm, performART students under the artistic direction of Professor René Harder and lecturer Ilona Pászthy will offer an exclusive insight into the rehearsal process.
