Artist Frauke Dannert is the new Professor of Expanded Painting at Alanus University.

Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences in Alfter near Bonn is pleased to announce that artist Frauke Dannert was appointed as the new Professor of Expanded Painting on March 12, 2025. Rector Prof. Dr. Thomas Maschke emphasizes: “We are delighted by this wonderful enrichment of teaching in the Department of Fine Arts.”

Frauke Dannert brings an innovative perspective to teaching. At the center of her work is the artistic principle of collage—a process through which she understands the digitalized world as a large mosaic. In her work, Dannert seeks to find forms and understand the world. Her artworks include striking “spatial transformations” that oscillate between illusion and reality through the use of murals, carpet intarsia, curtains, and projections.

The artist lives and works in Cologne and studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and at Goldsmiths College in London. Her works are represented in numerous collections and have been exhibited at the Kunstmuseum Luzern, Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Sprengel Museum Hannover, Pori Art Museum in Finland, and Lehmbruck Museum Duisburg, among others. Most recently, the Max Ernst Museum in Brühl dedicated a solo exhibition to her.
