Alanus University invites you to the “Fine Arts Rundgang 2026” in Alfter

Once a year, Campus I – Johannishof of Alanus University is transformed into a major exhibition trail for emerging contemporary art: In the days leading up to the opening, students work intensively on their final examinations, set up studios, and prepare performances. From 19 to 21 June 2026, Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences – the only art university in the Bonn/Rhine-Sieg region – will present the completed final and semester projects of its students at the “Fine Arts Rundgang 2026” and invites visitors to discover current emerging art where it was created.

Selected final and semester projects from the Fine Arts, Art-Education-Therapy, performArt, and Architecture degree programs will be on display. The exhibition ranges from painting, drawing, and installation to performance and video, as well as experimental and AI-based works. Visitors will also gain insights into the students’ studios and working contexts. “The Rundgang is always a special moment because it makes visible the intensity and independence with which our students work,” says Prof. Johannes Brunner, Dean of the Department of Fine Arts. “For many, it is the first major public presentation of their work – and for visitors, a rare opportunity to experience emerging art directly in the context in which it was created.”

The Rundgang opening will take place on Thursday, 18 June, at 7 p.m. by Rector Prof. Dr. Thomas Maschke and Prof. Johannes Brunner. As part of the opening, three Alanus Rundgang Awards will be presented for outstanding artistic work in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Fine Arts as well as the Bachelor’s degree program in “Art-Education-Therapy.” In addition, the GA Award, sponsored by the General-Anzeiger Bonn, will be presented. The jury consists of Features Editor Judith Nikula and Arts Editor Elena Eggert.

The exhibition will be open from Friday to Sunday, 19 to 21 June, daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guided tours of the studios as well as conversations with the artists will offer personal insights into the works and their backgrounds. With its location by the Kottenforst nature reserve and views across the region, Alanus University also provides a uniquely atmospheric setting for a summer art visit.

The opening and the Rundgang exhibition are open to the public and free of charge – all interested visitors are warmly invited!
