The Department of Artistic Therapies and Therapy Sciences is responsible for therapeutic, academic, and artistic education and research, and in particular for professional qualification in the field of art therapy.
As of 1 September 2027, a professorship in academia (75%) is to be filled:
Professorship in Art Therapy
Requirements
We are seeking an academically distinguished personality with recognized expertise in art therapy and several years of art therapy experience in the clinical field (focus on adults).
The employment requirements are set out in Section 29 of the KunstHG NRW.
The prerequisites for your appointment are:
• a completed university degree in art therapy
• teaching aptitude, demonstrated through appropriate prior qualifications or already proven through teaching at other universities
• a substantial academic CV, generally demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate and further academic achievements
• proof of extensive art therapy practice (at least 5 years) in clinical fields of application
• consideration of gender- and inclusion-specific aspects in research, teaching, and artistic practice, as well as in the promotion of early-career professionals in art therapy and academia
• strong communication and interpersonal skills, including with regard to gender issues, inclusion, and diversity
• very good written and spoken English skills are an advantage
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include teaching in art therapy and research (with a focus on the MA in Art Therapy), degree program development and
organization, participation in the university’s academic self-governance, as well as supervision of research and practical projects.
Continuous on-site presence is required for teaching and student supervision.
