Observation and Documentation II
Educational seeing, observing and documenting are key core competencies of professional practice. In this seminar, we explore fundamental social, cultural and educational questions of observation and documentation in childhood education. Who is the child from an educational perspective? How can observation and documentation themselves become a process of shaping educational processes? In addition, specific strategies and methods will be discussed – also at the intersection of art and international perspectives in childhood education.

Lecture Series: Crisis as Transformative Potential in Childhood Education
Crises are a fundamental moment in developmental and educational processes in childhood. On the one hand, crises indicate that familiar expectations and notions of normality are being disrupted and called into question. On the other hand, they also hold the potential to fundamentally question, reinterpret and change oneself as well as one’s many relationships with the world. In the seminar, we will explore transformative approaches to learning and education and jointly discuss the respective educational and ethical implications of different understandings of crisis and transformation for childhood education.

Entanglements. Philosophical reading course on New Materialism
“New Materialism” understands reality as a dynamic relational structure in which not only humans act, and not merely in the first place. Matter has a life of its own – and is therefore more than “mere” matter, raw material or object. Boundaries generally become permeable, allowing nature, technology and art to enter into exciting, fruitful and challenging entanglements. In the seminar session on 26 May, we will presumably discuss a text by the philosopher Rosi Braidotti.
