Tessa Knapp is the new Professor of Installation, Media and Performance

The artist works spatially and time-based in the fields of media art, installation, art in public space and performance.

Hans-Joachim Pieper, Rector of Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, has appointed Tessa Knapp Professor of Installation, Media and Performance in the Department of Fine Arts. Knapp studied media art at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne under Marcel Odenbach and Matthias Müller. She has received numerous awards and travel grants for her work, and her works have been shown in national and international exhibitions. The artist works spatially and time-based in the fields of media art, installation, art in public space and performance. Her academic teaching is based on many years of experience in teaching artistic practice at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, the University of Essen and the University of Siegen.

At Alanus University, she teaches primarily in the Bachelor’s degree programme Sculpture / Installation / Digital Media.

Sculpture professor Paul Petry, Vice Dean of the Department of Fine Arts, is looking forward to Tessa Knapp’s expanded understanding of sculpture: “We are very pleased to have gained such a contemporary artist, personality and experienced teacher in Tessa Knapp!
