A personnel change at the Institute of Childhood Education

Prof. Dr. Stefanie Greubel appointed Head of the full-time Childhood Education degree program

In recent days, one of the co-founders of the Childhood Education degree program, who had been involved from the very beginning alongside the founding professor Dr. Rainer Patzlaff and helped to establish first the full-time format and, six months later, also the part-time format, has handed over responsibility as Head of the full-time degree program as well as Deputy Director of the Institute to the Dean of the Department of Educational Sciences, Prof. Dr. Jost Schieren, on the occasion of his 80th birthday so that he can scale back somewhat in the future: Prof. Dr. Maximilian Buchka. On the recommendation of the Dean, the Rector of the university has now appointed Prof. Dr. Stefanie Greubel as the successor to Prof. Dr. Buchka with immediate effect.

The Dean, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Fengler, and Prof. Dr. Buchka wish her every success and blessing in her new office, as well as a steady hand in leading the full-time degree program into the future, which will be eventful because an additional dual study format is planned for the autumn semester.

At an emotionally moving birthday celebration for the jubilarian, during which he was awarded the honorary title “Homo Academics” by the faculty of the Childhood Education degree program, in recognition of his forty years of teaching at the higher education institutions of Dortmund University, Catholic University of Applied Sciences Cologne, Comenius University Bratislava/Slovakia, Protestant University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg, formerly Freie Hochschule Mannheim, now the Institute for Waldorf Education at Alanus University Mannheim, and for more than 12 years now also at the Department of Educational Sciences at Alanus University, in the degree programs Special Needs Education, Childhood Education, and in the master’s program School and Teaching & Educational Practice Research. In this educational master’s program, he developed the specialization in adult education for teachers at technical schools, Waldorf seminars, family education centers, and adult education centers. At present, 26 students are studying this specialization at Alanus University. Prof. Dr. Buchka will continue to work in this field as Coordinator for Adult Education.
