Alanus University & Waldorf Seminar Dortmund offer OGS Certificate Course Plus

The certificate course begins on 21 September 2024.

From September 2024, Alanus University, together with the Waldorf Seminar Dortmund, will offer a new OGS Certificate Course Plus. This continuing education programme is aimed at all those already working in OGS and those who would like to work pedagogically with children in this context in the future but do not yet have Waldorf pedagogical training and would like to qualify as a specialist in all-day care at Waldorf schools. The course is funded by the Association of Waldorf Schools (BdFW) and the Association of Waldorf Kindergartens and is part of the continuing education programme Waldorf all day long offered by the Association of Waldorf Schools. The aim is to teach Waldorf education for supporting primary school-aged children throughout the day. In this way, the BdFW is responding to the upcoming legal changes in all-day childcare: from 2026, due to the new All-Day Support Act, there will be a legal entitlement to all-day care for primary school children.

The OGS Certificate Course Plus of Alanus University & Waldorf Seminar Dortmund runs over a period of two years and comprises 400 teaching hours. The certificate course consists of 2 modules and offers a basic qualification for working in an OGS (Alanus University), plus an intensive practice-oriented focus (Waldorf Seminar Dortmund).

Through the course, participants receive

• further development of their own professional competence,
• sound foundational knowledge of human development in the 2nd seven-year phase,
• Waldorf pedagogical practical competence,
• artistic and craft-related inspiration, as well as
• encounters, exchange, and inspiration.

The course begins on 21 September 2024 and takes place on Fridays (partly online via Zoom) from 5:00 pm to 8:25 pm and on Saturdays (in person) from 10:00 am to 5:15 pm through May 2026. The Association of Waldorf Schools summarises the shared continuing education goal as follows:

“Only together is education throughout the day possible:  The goal of every training and continuing education programme is to enter into a dialogue as equals together with everyone involved at the schools on site in order to develop the right concept for all-day care at the respective school.
