Federal government supports “Green Teams Netzwerk Deutschland” with 1.55 million euros

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action is supporting the project “Green Teams Netzwerk Deutschland” with 1.55 million euros from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus). The initiative was launched by Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences in Alfter near Bonn in cooperation with planetgroups and NELA. Next Economy Lab. Its aim is to build a freely accessible network for Green Teams in German-speaking countries.
According to a 2023 survey by the German Environment Agency, more than half of all employees would like to get involved in the ecological transformation in their professional environment. More and more employees are already putting this intention into practice by founding so-called Green Teams in their companies – groups that voluntarily work for greater sustainability in the workplace. These initiatives range from employee gardens, mobility concepts and energy-saving measures to the development of more sustainable business models.
“Green Teams Netzwerk Deutschland” now offers the participating teams a platform for knowledge exchange and the further development of their projects. Employees from different companies have the opportunity to learn from one another, network and gain new inspiration for their own initiatives. “Green Teams are an important building block for the future-oriented transformation of companies. The role and potential of committed employees are still underestimated,” explains Prof. Dr. Susanne Blazejewski, who leads the project at Alanus University. “Employees want to and can drive the socio-ecological transformation of the working world – from within companies themselves.”
Those interested can currently find information via the LinkedIn channel “Green Teams Netzwerk Deutschland”; a website will be available from March. Once a month, an online event is offered on how to found a Green Team, there is a guide, and regular roundtables at which existing Green Teams present their work.
