Alanus University discusses the future of Waldorf education with international experts

Waldorf education has been practiced worldwide for more than 100 years – and today it is being researched and critically discussed more than ever. Under the title “How…is Waldorf?”, Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences in Alfter near Bonn invites participants to the fifth edition of the “International Campus Waldorf” (ICW) from September 30 to December 9, 2025. In this annual online lecture series, renowned international experts provide insights into current research findings and experiences with Waldorf education and then engage in dialogue with the participants.

“This time, we are focusing our attention on taking a closer look at Waldorf education in its educational, social, and cultural context,” explains Prof. Dr. Jost Schieren, initiator of the ICW and Professor of Waldorf Education at Alanus University. “The goal is not only to present the concept of Waldorf education, but to critically examine its lived reality: What does Waldorf education actually achieve? Where does it need to evolve? And what current challenges is it facing?”

The “International Campus Waldorf” sees itself as a global online classroom. Every autumn, internationally renowned scholars and practitioners report on their research and school practice. All students, teachers, parents, and interested individuals who would like to engage with the opportunities and challenges of Waldorf education are invited.

Participation is free of charge via Zoom. The lectures will be held in English and will subsequently be made available on the ICW website.
