Business Administration – Rethinking Business
Bachelor of Arts
Would you like to rethink business and contribute to a business that benefits people in the long term? Do you want to broaden your horizons and develop your personality during your studies? Is it important to you to work for socially and ecologically sustainable companies after graduation? Are you looking for a state-recognised degree in business administration?
Then the business administration programme “Rethinking Business” is the right choice for you! Students at Alanus University learn more skills than in conventional business administration courses. It is important to us that our students learn to view economic issues from various perspectives, such as sustainability, in addition to acquiring standard business expertise.
For this reason, the curriculum takes a broader approach. Our business students attend seminars in ethics and art studies, take acting lessons, paint and sculpt – a unique concept in Germany. In addition, learning take place in small groups with intensive support and guidance from professors.
The Department of Business Management is on Facebook and Instagram.
Course Contents & Specialisations
Courses impart professional knowledge in the areas of marketing, human resources, management and controlling, and you are free to select your own focuses.
From the 2nd semester onwards, you can choose a specialisation.
The degree programme offers the following specialisations:

Special Features
The combination of business administration with modules from art and the Studium Generale is unique. You develop personally and socially through practical exercises in art. You learn to train your perception and to become involved in the economy creatively and with the commitment to help solve social challenges.
Students from all disciplines learn together in the Studium Generale, a supplementary cultural studies programme that is an essential part of all degree courses at Alanus University. The lectures and seminars encourage students to reflect upon cultural and philosophical issues and thus find and form their own position in the social context.

Every time something is done, I ask myself whether it makes the world a better or a worse place. If everyone would follow this principle: act only if your action improves the world.

Highlights of Alanus University are the small groups, the “we feeling”, the direct contact to lecturers, and the many creative minds. I recommend Alanus University to young people who want to broaden their horizons and who, in addition to business administration, want to explore art and philosophy as well as experience the interweaving of theory and practice.

I’m fascinated by the combination of business content with philosophy and art in the Bachelor’s Programme Business Administration at Alanus University. This interdisciplinarity not only helps students gain a new perspective on economic activity, but also matures them personally and as human beings. I can recommend the programme to anyone who wants to discuss controversial topics in business and is interested in the holistic development of his or her own personality.
Paula Kühne / Graduate Bachelor’s Programme “Business Administration – Rethinking Business” with professional experience
I like the interdisciplinary programmes at Alanus University. You have the opportunity to learn and exchange ideas on topics outside your own subject - that's a great enrichment. I particularly like the subjects in the Studium Generale and the art modules. The degree programme is not only career training but also personal learning.
