The Senate
The Senate is the most senior academic committee of Alanus University. The Senate advises and makes decisions concerning all fundamental academic issues regarding the university. The Senate elects the Rector and the Prorectors and is authorised to set or alter university guidelines and regulations.
The Senate consists of two professors per department, as well as three representatives from the academic staff, a representative of the general staff and a student representative. Members of the Executive Board team are also advisory members of the Senate.
Executive Board
The Executive Board is the most senior executive committee of Alanus University and it is in charge of overall governance. The Executive Board ensures that the other boards, panels and committees carry out their tasks and that the members and associates of the university fulfill their duties. The Executive Board consists of the Rector, the Prorector and the General Manager. The Rector and the Prorector are responsible for all academic issues regarding the university, while the General Manager deals with financial and legal matters.

The Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees promotes the regional integration of the University and supervises its academic development. It may make suggestions or recommendations for reports from other boards, panels and committees. The Board of Trustees consists of individuals from professional and public life. The current members are:

The University Assembly is the forum for discussion on general university matters concerning academic staff, students and support staff. The University Assembly may make recommendations on principle matters on the basis of majority vote.

The Examinations Board is responsible for setting examination deadlines and for organising the exams. Additionally it deals with appeals and admissions to Bachelor’s and Master’s exams.
