Master of Arts in Education

The Master’s programme focuses on academic and research-based issues in education, providing students with the opportunity for personal and career development and giving them a professional qualification. The focus is broad, including classical and mainstream approaches to teaching, learning and education, but there is a particular emphasis is on Waldorf education and other ‘progressive’ approaches.

In view of the widespread changes facing the education system, the course puts particular emphasis on the development of transferable skills and on preparing the student for the changing realities that are currently taking place within education.
Students choose one of two main pathways:

Schools and Teaching
This course is designed for university graduates with a relevant degree who want to become a qualified teacher. The course prepares students for teaching at progressive and Waldorf schools but also for teaching at public and state schools.

Educational Action Research
This course is designed for teachers with a university degree who are already working, but who would like to carry out research into some aspect of their practice in order to reflect on and develop their own professional competence. The course provides the necessary grounding in educational research methodologies for planning, conducting and evaluating empirical and action-based studies in educational settings. The course also opens opportunities for work as a consultant/participant in school development initiatives and educational research projects.
